Poll description

In the past, we have supported bug fixes for one release and security fixes for two releases. Since our releases have been about 8 months long (even though they are supposed to be 6 months long) this has translated to 8 months of bug fixes and 16 months of security fixes.

Since Nitrogen will be a 3-month release, and subsequent releases will be 6-months, using release based support will result in Carbon only getting 3 months of bug fixes and 9 months of security fixes. This is noticeably different than the past. How do we want to proceed?

Result

1. Date-based, have Carbon get 6 months of bug fixes (until November 26th, 2017) and 12 months of security fixes (until May 26th, 2018)  (Not defeated in any contest vs. another choice)
2. Release-based skipping Nitrogen, have Carbon get 9 months of bug fixes (until Oxygen is released on or about March 7th, 2018) and 15 months of security fixes (until Fluorine is release on or about September 7th, 2018)
3. As normal, have Carbon get 3 months of bug fixes (until Nitrogen is released on or about September 7th, 2017) and 9 months of security fixes (until Oxygen is released on or about March 7th, 2018), loses to Release-based skipping Nitrogen, have Carbon get 9 months of bug fixes (until Oxygen is released on or about March 7th, 2018) and 15 months of security fixes (until Fluorine is release on or about September 7th, 2018) by 6–4
